I'm not sure where you get that black male/white female stories are less popular than white male/black female. I know the opposite is true in porn videos, but you did specify stories. Most of the stuff I've seen is the opposite, but I like cuckoldry rather than interracial specifically, so maybe the broader IR world is different from what I've seen. And given that this site is very heavily biased towards black men & white women (despite the fact that its supposedly a hotwife/cuckoldry site first and foremost), I went to Literotica. From their Interracial section & the story randomizer I got this for the first 10 results:

Much more diverse group that time, and what you said held true. Although black men were overall equally popular as white men. So, since there wasn't yet a definitive answer, I did a 3rd round:

A pretty even split on that one. But then I got tired of checking out random stories, so I checked out their Tags portal instead.
For "Interracial Sex", the most common additional tags had "Black Man"; "BBC"; and "White Woman" all come up before "Black Woman". With just 'Interracial", 'BBC' is more common that 'Black Woman", which beat out "Black cock", "Black Man", "Black cock", and then "white man". I'd say that black men & white women probably take the edge here.
None of this is overly scientific, and all I found was what exists rather than how much is read (though I'd assume that writers will generally put out stuff that is going to be reasonably popular). Even then, it looks like there isn't an overwhelming clear advantage in popularity for either type. But I'd put my money on black men + white women being a bit more popular. I did notice that the stories involving white men tended towards more romantic stories while those featuring black men were more hardcore -which explains your sense that those stories have more 'energy and power'.
Personally, I don't really care whether the bull is black or white in the cuck stories I read. But I do prefer the others (cuck, wife/gf/etc) to be white. And I find most 'romance' stories too boring to ever read, regardless of the skin colour of anyone involved.

Like you I find most romance too boring to read. I googled "Interracial Romance" and most of the books by a huge margin were white men/black women. Erotica may be different, but straight IR romance seems to lean toward white men and black women. I know people who write for that genre who tell me the same thing and they make a living writing IR romance
Ah, actual 'erotic literature', rather than the plain old smut posted here & elsewhere. Your point makes more sense now, especially now that I've seen a hint of what the 'reverse' IR stories seem to be like.
If I had to guess, I'd say that it comes down to audience. There probably aren't too many guys interested in reading a full on romance novel -and I'd bet that black man fucking white woman is mainly (but not exclusively) a fantasy for guys. It plays off of our fears and insecurities.
That being said, I can't figure out a reason why white men/black women would be popular as a genre. Maybe its a relatively common fantasy that black women have? Or maybe white guys who are into romance novels like black women? Or, hell, maybe white women like it in a similar masochistic way as white guys like to read about black men taking 'our' women. I have no idea. Although on the other hand, I bet most people would probably have a hard time explaining what the appeal is in a white wife belittling her husband as she begs her black bull to knock her up. But thats the sort of stuff we like here. Different strokes for different folks.
