Strunk and White's Elements of Style - One must first know the rules in order to break them.
Dictionary.com - We all know what a dictionary is, right? Amazing how few people actually use it.
Thesaurus.com - Don't use the same word twice in one sentence. Find synonyms, antonyms and so much more here.
Grammar, punctuation, everything else - Useful info straight from our friends at the library.

If you have some good helpful links, or if you want to create a guide to help those who need it, just reply in this thread and we'll sticky anything useful.

Hey, girls and boys. I'm just one of you readers - but have quite a few editing skills, good punctuation, spelling, and all that stuff. I'm going to offer my help to you if you'd like someone to go over what you've written and help you make it easiest for others to read and enjoy.

Of course it's for free. I enjoy good stories - and they're so much easier to read when they're - easy to read. I might see if I can get away with specialising in themes that are hot to me -- but hell, I'll start with anything if it'll help you.

Strunk & White got me through college. Best guide of that kind ever made, idc how old it is.

I personally find the Grammarly app to be immeasurably helpful. Not just for grammar but for other things too, e.g. identifying overly used words, suggesting synonyms, pointing out excessively long sentences, and checking for plagiarism. I don't write sex stories though (or at least, I haven't written any yet), I write academic stuff.

The best thing about it is that I find the more I use it the more I start to notice errors upfront. Errant commas for instance and hyphens instead of semi-colons was something I used to do a LOT. Not so much anymore though.

[edit] don't use it as you go, just use it at the end. I find using it as you go can really slow down your writing speed because you are continually going back to change things rather than writing new content.

Can you pls look over at my story too I am not that good at writing

I wish I was allowed to edit and correct. Even when I proofread, my brain auto corrects what I see. I'm also embarrassed when I make silly grammar mistakes. While, I know the differences between "your" and "you're" and "they're" and "their", edits make me prone to overlook mistakes.

Draft 1: You're going to like your cake, they're going to think its beautiful.
Draft 2: Your cake is beautiful, their opinions will be that they like it.
What you end up with: Your going to like your cake. They're opinions don't matter.

Until then, I ask readers to overlook them.

I love the way you write. It's obvious you put time and energy into every published work. Know that your efforts are appreciated!

I see a thing I would phrase differently from time to time, but so what. Your meaning is clear and understood. Your content is what matters.

Keep up the good work!

My view of "your" and "You're" is simple "YOUR" is possessive, Your car, your house when speaking to the owner/s.

"You're" is a contraction of "You are" so it is descriptive, you're an asshole, You're beautiful, you're a bitch!

"Their" is possessive, It is their house, their car when speaking to a third person/s.

They're is like You're it is a contraction of "they are" meaning more than one, they"re assholes, They're a bunch of bitches, They're beautiful flowers.
