I've been on hiatus since late December and will likely remain so until late February.
Why?
I'm glad you asked. Since June 2017, I've put out 110 short stories and 18 anthologies. That is almost a story each week for two years straight! I'm a tad burned out. However, the hiatus was a bit forced by two events.
What events?
First, I along with millions of others were surprised by Tumblr suddenly banning NSFW content. I backed up my infamous Tumblr that served as my main site for my writing, but sadly it is now gone. I'm looked toward replacement services, but currently none meet my needs. It will return. Sadly, much of my sales come from Tumblr.
Second, Amazon and I are having issues and they suspended my account. The site does not like that I put some of my stories out - primarily here on Dark Wanderer. I've refused to comply and they intend to keep my account frozen. The TOS does not forbid me from doing this, but they made it clear it messes with their piracy checker and they are tired of getting alerts. You can find my word on Smashwords and Barnes & Noble currently. Most of my library is on the latter. I'm debating trying Amazon again once I have all of my royalties paid out as I do not want to give them a reason to keep them.
It is sad both these events occurred within days of one another. It will take hours of work to restore both my page and my catalog. I will be doing both in late February.
Will you be posting to Dark Wander in the meantime?
I have been a fan of Dark Wanderer since 1997 when I first came here. The site had its own hiatus for a while, but it is one of the few that celebrate the early web's dedication to free content. I will put out a free story this month and next. Stay tuned.
